First Look: Australian 100$ Bill Gets A Makeover

The one hundred dollar bill which is the second most issued note in Australia after the denomination 50, has got a new design with additional security features making it almost impossible to counterfeit.
The Reserve bank has revealed that it comes with a tiny but most effective change in its features that could be missed easily at the first glance yet makes a lot of difference. It has got tactile changes along with a few design and security features. The 100$ note has five raised bumps to feel on each of the long edges for vision impaired people.

One can look for tiny, clearly defined text in multiple locations on the banknote. This includes an excerpt from Melba’s autobiography Melodies and Memories.

To make a note of some of the notable features, tilt the banknote to see a rolling color effect of the owl, which is visible on both sides of the banknote and there are multiple security features in the clear top-to-bottom window.

The fluorescent ink was used for an owl with a wattle branch, the year of print and serial number of the note, which can be viewed in fluoresce under the UV light.

The new design will come into effect from late 2020 and this is the last denomination to get a facelift as part of the Next Generation Banknote Program.

The Reserve Bank of Australia has made it clear that the existing 100$ notes will remain as the legal tender and there can be no qualms about their future usage.
