Tasmania’s Coronavirus tally comes to 98 after nine new cases were reported on Tuesday night and eight cases from the latest are linked to North West Regional Hospital.
Six of the new cases are North West Regional Hospital’s staff, one is a recent inpatient and another is a close contact of a previous NWRH case.
Visits to hospitals were already banned in Tasmania under new restrictions implemented from Tuesday afternoon. Premier announced the measures after seven health workers of NWRH turned positive for COVID19 yesterday.
“This outbreak shows how quickly, how easily, these matters can take hold and we need to ensure we get on top of it,” Premier Peter Gutwein said.
Tasmania has also recorded another Coronavirus death today after a man in his 80’s passed away at NWRH. He had been on board the Ruby Princess.
This brings the state’s total death toll to three and on the brighter side, 34 people have recovered from the deadly virus in the state.
