Privacy Policy
This page explains, in plain language, how Tassie Times currently approaches personal information on its public website. It is an initial information page and is not legal advice.
Last reviewed: August 2026
Information you may provide
When you use public enquiry forms, you may choose to provide information such as your name, email address and message content through contact, advertising or story-submission pathways.
If you choose to subscribe to email updates, you may provide an email address. Newsletter subscriptions are separate from staff User accounts used for administration.
Email newsletter
Tassie Times uses double opt-in for email updates: after you submit your address, we send a confirmation email and only activate the subscription when you confirm the link.
Confirmed subscribers may receive Tassie Times newsletter emails. Each campaign includes an unsubscribe link. This implementation does not use newsletter open-tracking pixels and does not use per-recipient click tracking.
Confirmation emails are transactional. They do not include tracking pixels or third-party analytics beacons.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link provided after confirmation or in campaign emails. Unsubscribing does not delete enquiry records or affect any separate User account.
Article readership analytics remains separate from subscriber identity. This wording is an initial description and remains subject to owner review.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting and application environment may process basic request metadata needed to operate and protect the service. This can include items such as IP address, browser details, requested URLs and timestamps recorded in ordinary server or security logs.
Tassie Times uses first-party aggregated Article readership statistics to help editors understand which published stories are being read. No third-party analytics service is used for this feature, and no analytics tracking cookie is created for it.
Raw IP addresses and browser User-Agent strings are not stored in analytics records. Temporary request information may be processed in memory only for duplicate and abuse suppression. Only aggregated Article-per-day counters persist in the database.
This initial policy does not claim that advertising trackers or third-party email platforms are currently in use. Updated analytics wording remains subject to owner review.
How information may be used
Information provided to Tassie Times may be used to:
- respond to enquiries and correspondence
- review story tips and advertising interest
- send email updates you have confirmed through double opt-in
- operate and maintain the website
- understand aggregated published Article readership for editorial decisions
- help protect the service against misuse or security issues
Sharing and sale of information
Tassie Times does not sell personal information.
If future third-party services are introduced to support publishing, hosting, email or additional analytics, this policy will be updated before those practices are relied upon.
Security and retention
We aim to take reasonable steps to protect information held by the publication. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably required for the purpose it was collected, operational needs or lawful obligations that may apply. Fixed retention periods will be published once approved.

If you believe we hold personal information about you and would like to ask about access or correction, please email the contact address below. We will consider requests in good faith.
